Vallon is famous for its natural arch over the Ardèche river and, more recently, the extraordinary Caverne du Pont d’Arc. Vallon is a resort geared towards sporting activities; on account of being an ideal base from which to explore and go down the Ardèche gorges, it is a good place to stay, albeit overrun with visitors in high season. Pack some provisions if you plan to picnic in the neighbouring gorges, since there are no grocery shops before St-Martin-d’Ardèche.
