Orange owes its international fame to its two impressive centre-city Roman monuments which are protected as part of UNESCO’s world heritage: The Roman Theatre which still has its stage wall and is the best preserved in Europe, and the monumental arch of triumph, symbol of the glory of the Roman Empire. Every summer, the Roman Theatre hosts thousands of music-lovers for the famous lyrical festival known as the ‘Chorégies d’Orange’.
